Laboratory of Pavement Mechanics (LMP)
The Pavement Mechanics laboratory aims to meet the demands of undergraduate and postgraduate courses that involve resilience modulus and permanent deformation tests of soils and other granular materials. These tests are of fundamental importance for the analysis of the deformability characteristics of these materials, as knowledge of these characteristics is fundamental for the current method of designing flexible pavements in Brazil. To this end, the laboratory has dynamic load application equipment from the company Geocomp. The laboratory is preparing to receive a new structure with computers and a study environment for undergraduate and postgraduate research.
Considering the area of “Geotechnics”, subarea “Transport Systems and Infrastructure” of the Postgraduate Program in Civil Engineering (PPGEC) at DEC, the Pavement Mechanics laboratory has been used to carry out tests for influence analysis research. the moisture content of soil compaction and granular materials in the deformability characteristics of these materials in addition to analyzes of soil stabilization with cement, lime, steel slag, ornamental rock residues, mining waste, among others.
