Laboratory of Waste Mechanics (LMR)

The Laboratory of Waste Mechanics is dedicated to developing work with urban solid waste, mining waste and pollutants in the line of research in Environmental Geotechnics. The Program has a warehouse with various equipment for laboratory and field tests and has been used to carry out full-scale experiments. With the existing equipment at LMR, it is possible to carry out complete geotechnical characterization tests of soils and mining waste (joint granulometry, Atterberg limits and determination of the specific mass of grains), compaction, conventional densification and with large deformations (HCT and CRD oedometers ), conventional and cubic triaxial tests, direct shear, permeability, Inderbitzen test to determine erodibility parameters, load tests on urban solid waste and determination of water retention curves in the soil.
