Researchers from the SICon research group published an article in the journal Construction and Building Materials
The article “Influence of biocide and dispersant additives on the performance and durability of building paints produced with granite waste” sought to evaluate the influence of different concentrations of biocide and dispersant additives on the performance and durability of paints produced with granite waste. The authors observed that the biocide additive did not significantly influence the performance properties, while the dispersant additive reduced the abrasion resistance of the paint film. Samples with 0.225% biocide were considered the most economical and sustainable. The results indicate that biocide additives are promising alternatives to improve the durability of paints based on granite residue.
The article is signed by doctoral students Hellen Veloso Moura and Márcia Salgado Lopes, Civil Engineering graduate student Jean Carlos Dias, and professors Leonardo Pedroti (supervisor), José Maria Carvalho and José Carlos Ribeiro.
