Researchers from the SICon research group published an article in the journal Cement and Concrete Composites

The article “Smart laying mortars for masonry structures: effects of lime/cement ratio and carbon nanomaterials content on self-sensing behavior” deals with the development of a factorial experiment to investigate the electrical resistivity, gauge factor, stress sensitivity, and compressive strength of mortars with different lime/cement proportions (0.25, 0,50, 1.00, 2.00, by volume) and carbon black nanoparticles (CBN) contents (0%, 3%, 6%, 9% by weight of binders). The authors demonstrate, among other discoveries, that the increase in lime content delayed the percolation thresholds and decreased the mortar strength. The article is signed by doctoral students Gustavo Nalon and Gustamo Lima, and professors José Carlos Ribeiro (DEC/UFV), Leonardo Pedroti (DEC/UFV), Roberto Márcio Silva (DEES/UFMG) and Eduardo Araújo (DPF/UFV).

The article will be published in volume 145 of the prestigious journal Cement and Concrete Composites, and is now available online by clicking here.
